Generative AI Services for All Students and Faculties

The provision status of Generative AI services for all students and faculties as of March 2026 is summarized below.

Generative AI Services frequently inquired about

Chat-based Services

Among the Generative AI services that the University of Tokyo has a university-wide contract for, there are mainly two chat-based services:

For these services, you can use the basic features equivalent to those of a paid contract with your UTokyo Account. Anyone with a UTokyo Account can use them. In addition, certain terms and conditions are established regarding data protection and other matters. (However, this information is as of March 2026. If there are changes to the actual available features or conditions, the rules and precautions for on-campus use may change. In particular, please constantly confirm that the data protection clauses are appropriate by yourself. In some cases, it may be necessary to explicitly perform opt-out operations.)

For details on using these services with your UTokyo account, please see the following pages:

Please note that although we frequently receive inquiries about ChatGPT, there is no university-wide contract for it.

AI Services Built into General Apps

Apart from chat-based ones, there are also generative AI services that are built in apps which provide the existing functions. In many cases, these services offer specific AI functions related to the app’s features (e.g., creating minutes in online meetings, assisting with document creation) and tend to be available with relatively simple operations.

Among those services, these are the ones that the University of Tokyo has a university-wide contract:
